Hey all,
My IE has decided it wants to crash when ever i launch it, no matter what ways i try to fix it. I have run system restores, reinstalling the update to IE, and even resetting settings in internet options and still have had no luck. Would anyone have a suggestion on how to handle this as i rather need IE for school as firefox struggles with the site i have to use.
Did you reset it completely? You know you have 2 options to reset it back to factory and that means removing all personal settings, or did you pick the first option?
The first option only resets it, but doesn't set it completely. Let me know and I'll tell you how to find the complete reset.
Next system restore doesn't fix it, so you'll have to do it. It can be removed and reinstalled. If you want to know that say and I'll post it.
You can find it by going to Microsoft.com and asking for removing internet explorer, and the number. You'll need to put the fresh copy on a flash drive, or use FireFox to get it after you remove the first one.
I did the search I suggested and it came up with some automatic fix it tools. I really am afraid to run these, because I don't know the source, so I decided to post the link I want you to see.

hmmm, i only saw one reset option when looking at resetting IE as for removing it not sure if you an do that inwin 7 too easily
There's a removal tool on the Microsoft website that works under Windows 7. I used it, and it didn't do anything stupid like install extra toolbars or anything.
i solved the issue, don't know if it was the piece of software i had to remove that was causing it or a clean install of IE but all is up again.
What was the softwear you removed if you wish to say?
Also remember that Windows 7 will repair many issues after a few times you get arors. Everytime you click or hear Windows is checking for a solution, it is really checking, and when the solution comes available it gets applied. Beautiful actually. Windows 8 is said to even do this better.
Yes as posted many of the tools on Microsoft's site do as they are suppose to and don't add anything. If you ever have an issue with one they'll fix you up free of charge.
it was the dfx plug in i use to enhance audio, i think the install corrupted
It shouldn't unless it was trying to change your home page. Reinstall it and pay attenchen to how it does. Don't just click the next tap through each set, or while installing choose custom. It should work.
it failed durring the main install, files couldn't be written too
I'll have to actually try the Check for a Solution sometime rather than just force-quit and go fix things myself. Been on Winblows for most of my adult life and hence rarely think of it as doing things right, more of a necessary evil for enterprise.
the check for sollutions does work a lot of the time if the program gives you the choice to do so.
If you just have to have it remove the folder in program files and start fresh and see what you got.
